At our October meeting, we will discuss The Night Watchman by Louise Erdrich. The novel was inspired by her grandfather’s successful fight in 1953 to stop the U.S. Congress from unilaterally abrogating its responsibilities under treaties with Native American tribes. This novel, like her previous novels, seeks to provide readers with a better understanding of the history of Native Americans and the ways they have been impoverished by the American government.

The group selected Hamnet by Maggie O’Farrell for discussion in November. We will select a book for December at our October meeting.
